Personal Values Selection
The Personal Values Selection Tool is designed to help you identify and prioritize your core values. Values are fundamental beliefs and principles that guide your thoughts, actions, and decisions. By understanding your core values, you can gain clarity about what matters most to you and align your life choices accordingly.
This tool is designed to assist you in the process of identifying your values. While it provides guidance, the final selection and interpretation of your values are entirely personal to you.
Remember, the goal is to identify your core values accurately. These values represent your authentic self and act as a compass for making choices aligned with what truly matters to you. By knowing and honoring your core values, you can lead a more fulfilling and purpose-driven life.
Follow the instructions below to effectively use the tool:
Familiarize yourself with the list of 179 values: Take some time to review the comprehensive list of values provided. Read through each value and try to understand its meaning and relevance to your life.
Initial selection: Begin the process by selecting as many values as you feel resonate with you. Don’t worry about limiting your choices at this stage; simply focus on capturing all the values that feel important to you. This initial selection will help you identify a broad range of values that might be significant in your life.
Refining your selection: Once you have made your initial selections, it’s time to narrow down your list. Begin by considering each value carefully and evaluating its importance in your life. Ask yourself questions like, “How strongly do I resonate with this value?” and “To what extent does this value guide my actions and decisions?”
Deselecting less important values: Gradually start deselecting values that are less important to you compared to others. As you review your selected values, think about which ones truly define who you are and what you stand for. Consider the impact each value has on your life and how it aligns with your long-term goals and aspirations.
Prioritizing your top/core values: Continue deselecting values until you are left with only five values. These last five values will be your top/core values—the principles that hold the most significance in your life.
Take your time during this process, as it requires introspection and self-reflection. Consider the values that deeply resonate with your sense of purpose, shape your beliefs, and inspire your actions.
